We made this cider a few months ago when we hosted a fall cook-out, and were craving it in this cold weather. Also, this worked great as a fun drink for a party. We just left the slow cooker on “keep warm” so that people could refill their cups throughout the day. If you are looking for a different treat to serve at a party this weekend, give this a try. I love that it’s a slow cooker recipe, so it’s so easy and doesn’t require any “babysitting”. The first time we made it, we let it mull for just a few hours, but this time we left it in the crock pot all day, and it worked well both ways.


Mulled Apple Cider

¾ Gallon Apple Cider (unsweetened)

¼ cup brown sugar

3 cinnamon sticks

20 whole cloves

½ an apple, sliced

3 slices of an orange, with peel

1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled

2 tsp allspice


  1. Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker and heat on low for 4 to 8 hours.
  2. Strain out large pieces of fruit and spices, and ladle into glasses. Garnish with sliced fruit or cinnamon sticks.
